From History to Hip-Hop

Jonathan Blanchard

From History to Hip-Hop is an engaging, curriculum-aligned arts integration program that takes students on an interactive musical journey through American history, from field songs and spirituals of the 1800s to today’s hip-hop. Through storytelling, live music, and multimedia, students discover how gospel, blues, jazz, rock, and R&B evolved alongside historical and cultural shifts, connecting directly to language arts, social studies, and even math and science. Presented by Lincoln Center Certified teaching artist Jonathan Blanchard, this program captivates students while deepening their understanding of history and culture, making learning memorable and meaningful through the universal language of music.
